My Most Anticipated 2023 Releases (January - June)

2022 was a fantastic year for some of my favorite authors - and if you are interested in hearing about last year's favorites, you can check out my post, My Top 30 Books from 2022.

I have been thinking about the best way to portray this information, so it is organized.

Finally, I decided that looking at each month individually would make the most sense. I will also link the books via their Goodreads page so that you can add them to your TBR. :)

I decided to limit my listings to January - June. I plan to do another post later in the year for July-December.

Also, I am relying on data in Goodreads for the Expected Pub dates, so they could be off - but should be pretty close!

Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey - Expected Publication February 7, 2023

I am excited for the 'A Vine Mess' Series Book #1 to release in February! My first experience with Tessa Bailey came from a recommendation from a friend with It Happened One Summer (review here), and ever since, I have been HOOKED. I have read and picked up a couple of her books, and she is nothing if not consistent. SHEWWW.

It's One of Us by J.T. Ellison - Expected Publication February 21, 2023

I first stumbled upon J.T. Ellison's work after attending a virtual event hosted by ITW. She is an OG Thriller Chick - and her long list of awards matches her incredible collection of works. My favorites include Lie to Me, Good Girls Lie, and Tear Me Apart. I also picked up No One Knows, which is on my TBR. Something extraordinary about J.T. Ellison - is that she also writes Urban Fantasy under a pen name, Joss Walker (will be noted later in this post). This author takes the time to connect with her audience and interact with her readers. Of course, social media has made this more accessible in this technological age, but still - I think it should be noted. Ellison is an automatic buy for me!

Things We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score - Expected Publication February 21, 2023

Ah, another author that I have not yet had the pleasure of reading. However, I own Things We Never Got Over - the first book in this series. I have read some reviews and have high hopes - stay tuned!

Bright and Deadly Things by Lexie Elliot - Expected Publication February 14, 2023

I have read one of Lexie Elliot's books - How to Kill Your Best Friend, and gave it 4/5 stars on my Goodreads page. I also own The French Girl but have not gotten around to it yet. I am looking forward to reading more!

A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon - Expected Publication February 28, 2023

Last Fall, I purchased The Priory of the Orange Tree (review here). I was intimidated at the time by its 800+ pages, mainly because I had a book hangover from reading all of ACOTAR. In addition, I was nervous about having to learn an entirely new fantasy world after reading the entirety of ACOTAR and was worried I wouldn't like it. Thankfully, I got over all of that and read Priory in October. I absolutely fell in love with this world and the characters. The story was beautifully written and very interesting - there was never a dull moment. It took a good 50 pages until I was confident I knew who was who and what was what, but then I was rolling through it and finished it in about 3 days. A Day of Fallen Night is the stand-alone prequel to Priory - and I am very excited to dive back into that world again.

Love and Other Flight Delays by Denise Williams - Expected Publication March 14, 2023

Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto - Expected Publication March 14, 2023

I know nothing about either of these books or authors, but while researching, I came across both titles, which immediately piqued my interest.

The first (Love and Other Flight Delays) is a collection (3) of romance novellas all set at an airport. I also noticed that Denise Williams, like Ali Hazelwood, has a Ph.D. These novellas may have been available for audio or e-readers previously - but this will be their first time in print.

The latter (Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers) is a mystery - it looks like it will be comical and delightful. I love finding new authors that I like - so keep watch for a review with my first impressions!

Happy Place by Emily Henry - Expected Publication April 25, 2023

Fake dating, second chance romance, and I am anticipating a 'one-bed' situation... we will see. I am so thankful that a friend introduced me to Emily Henry last summer - when I had the pleasure of reading Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, and Book Lovers. I recommend her books, period... and she will forever be an automatic buy for me!

Bear With Me Now by Katie Shepard - Expected Publication April 25, 2023

This is an author that I have not read yet, but I saw that Ali Hazelwood shared something about this book on her Instagram story and so I naturally had to add it to my TBR...

Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune - Expected Publication May 2, 2023

Last year, I read Carley Fortune's debut novel, Every Summer After (review here), and I fell in love with the story. I recommend this book to all and have even purchased a copy for a friend. It was the kind of story that leaves you longing for more - it's nostalgia, you know - when a book feels like home.

I look forward to reading Meet Me at the Lake and am confident that Fortune's second work will be just as good, if not better, than her first!

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams - Expected Publication May 2, 2023

Sarah Adams is another new-to-me author that I am looking forward to reading! Her work has been popping up for me ever since I started reading the Romance genre last summer. I anticipate that she will be a new favorite of mine very soon. Stay tuned for a first impressions review.

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren - Expected Publication May 16, 2023

The first experience I had reading Christina Lauren was The Unhoneymooners (I rated 4/5 stars on my Goodreads page) - which was gifted to me by a friend.

I always enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, and this was my first fake marriage read. I loved the slow burn, and the spice was perfect. After this one, I also read Love & Other Words (review here) and enjoyed this too! It reminded me of Every Summer After in a way.

I also always think it's interesting when an author is actually a pen name for two people working on books together! This was also the case for author Juneau Black - who wrote one of my 2022 favorites - Shady Hollow!

I look forward to reading this and more of Christina Lauren's additional works this year!

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood - Expected Publication June 13, 2023

Ali Hazelwood is on this list twice - so cool!! I wrote under the January block about how I loved The Love Hypothesis and was looking forward to the Loathe to Love You collection of novellas' January Release.. but I am so excited for this stand-alone too!

Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey - Expected Publication June 6, 2023

Tessa Bailey made it in this post twice, also! In June, she will be releasing book #2 in the 'A Vine Mess' series - book #1 is mentioned in the February release block. I have been recommending Bailey's books to more and more friends lately - and they all report back with positive feedback! So check her out if you are unfamiliar with her work and like spice.

Zero Days by Ruth Ware - Expected Publication June 20, 2023

Ruth Ware is always an automatic buy for me - I have read all her books. I love her style, and she writes thrillers and suspense in a class all her own. I have read more than once that she is referred to as today's Agatha Christie.

Some of my favorites include, In a Dark, Dark Wood (review here), The It Girl (review here), and The Death of Mrs. Westaway (I rated it a 4/5 on my Goodreads page). If you have not yet read Ruth Ware, I highly recommend starting!

The Keeper of Flames by Joss Walker and R.L. Perez - Expected Publication June 27, 2023

Although 'Joss Walker' does not technically have another book listed on this post - I want to remind you that the previously mentioned J.T. Ellison writes under the pen name Joss Walker for her Urban Fantasy series! These are an automatic buy for me.

I love the world of Jayne Thorne, CIA Librarian. There are 3 novels and now 3 short stories available in print and for e-readers. Stay up to date with both J.T. Ellison and Joss Walker's social media pages - she interacts with her readers and audience and is quite involved in the reading and writing communities.
