Phew, what a rollercoaster of emotions Empire of Storms was this last week. This book continues the epic journey of Aelin Galathynius as she fights to reclaim her throne and save her world from the Valg King.
First off, the character development in this installment is superb. Aelin continues to grow into a strong, complex heroine, and the supporting cast is just as intriguing. Manon and Elide were two standout characters for me. Their dynamic was a perfect blend of tension and camaraderie, and I have loved watching their friendship unfold.
The plot was fast-paced and packed with action. I found myself turning the pages well into the night, desperate to know what would happen next. The stakes were high, and there were plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing.
I also appreciated the world-building during this journey. The descriptions of the various locations were vivid and immersive, making it easy to picture myself alongside the characters. The magic system also continued to be fascinating and intricate, with new secrets and answers coming to light.
Empire of Storms proved to be an enthralling and captivating read that left me eagerly anticipating the next book in the series. Having chosen to read EoS first, I am now looking forward to delving into Tower of Dawn, with the knowledge that it will serve as a bridge to the epic conclusion in Kingdom of Ash.
Ending on a cliffhanger, EoS has left me with an insatiable desire to continue on this epic journey, and I am willing to endure sleepless nights to discover what happens next in this breathtaking series -- I see an all-nighter in my future.
