Bookstore Spotlight: Rudolph Girls Independent Bookstore
If you find yourself in downtown Westminster, MD, just head towards the library. Across the street, in Winchester Exchange is my favorite book store - Rudolph Girls Independent Bookstore.
It's a shame that indie bookstores are becoming harder to find in today's world.
Westminster used to have a few bookstores, but over the years with the patronage to the mall dwindling, and readers going to amazon, b&n, and e-readers, the stores closed or moved. I was so thankful when Rudolph Girls opened in 2021.
I am always greeted upon entering Rudolph Girls, and they have a display of new releases and featured books on their center table.
I enjoy talking with Nikki and Ali while browsing - just ask them if you'd like a recommendation!
They have a wonderful selection of fiction and nonfiction, YA, and I particularly enjoy shopping in their children's books for my son! They also have plenty of bookish-related gifts and accessories.
Their website allows me to order, and preorder books with ease. These can be shipped or set to pick up in-store. They will send an email or text when the book has come in! (It doesn't take long).
They are very active on social media and will post about different events and book clubs they host. I recently went to an "Evening with Local Authors." It was a wonderful event - well attended, and so enjoyable.
They will be having a spooky book fair in October at the Island Green (also Westminster/Taneytown area) that I plan to attend!
Check out their facebook and instagram pages to stay up to date - they also have storytimes for kids that usually include a fun craft!
Rudolph Girls - being very active within the community, also has an event around back-to-school time for teachers.
"Thank a Teacher Bags" - local teachers, counselors, and media specialists can create a wishlist of books to use with their students, or for their professional development. These Thank a Teacher bags are for sale at the bookstore.
So head over to Rudolph Girls, and say hello to Nikki & Ali!
Shop local, and support small businesses - especially our beloved indie bookstores!
